Shizuka is the wolf princess of the North Star Wolfpack. She was born on the 22nd of February 2021 and is the oldest of our three wolfdogs. The name Shizuka has a Japanese background and is in her case written with the kanji (characters) 静狼 which together translated into English mean “silent wolf”.
Her name is a perfect fit, considering how she loves to silently prowl through the undergrowth or to ambush the other pack members with silent playful sneak attacks.
Shizuka is a hybrid between American and European wolfdogs. According to her Embark DNA test, she is 56.5% Czechoslovakian Wolfdog, 39.8% Greywolf and 3.7% Siberian Husky. This makes her a so called mid-content wolfdog with about 54% pure wolf in her.
Her behavior and body language are strongly on the wolfy side of her heritage. She communicates with us and the other pack members with a large range of growls and snarls, as well as with her teeth. Those friendly bites can be more or less painful depending on what she wants to communicate. If she is for example in a loving, happy and playful mood, it happens that she approaches us and takes our whole faces very gently in her fang, without leaving even a single scratch.
She has a very cheerful personality and loves to play chase (her favorite game). Be it that she is being chased, using her immense agility to avoid being caught, or her chasing the other pack members in the same manner. She also loves to play with the many friendly dogs which we meet during our frequent travels all around the world.
Shizuka is, typical for wolfdogs like her, reserved towards humans and other dogs until she gets to know them. As soon as she gets to know and takes a liking to someone, she likes to be closely around that person or animal.
At home Shizuka loves to cuddle and sleeps generally together with us in the bed. Taking most of the space for herself, like a real princess.
